TEOSCAR HERNANDEZ SIGNS THREE YEAR DEAL WITH DODGERS WORTH UP TO $66 MILLION
Los Angeles, CA – According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Dodgers and Teoscar Hernandez have agreed to a three year, $66 million contract, which will keep the parties together until 2027.
The contract included a $23 million signing bonus and a club option for 2028 with a salary of $16.5 million. There is a $6.5 million buyout on that 2028 option too.
News broke out with Teoscar posting “IM BACK” on his instagram story just days ago.
The Dodgers have been a hot commodity in sports talk due to their growing amount of deferred payments to current MLB players. The most controversial was the deferment of $680 of the $700 million in the Ohtani contract last offseason.
Teoscar’s contract will also hold a total of $23 million in deferrals. He will now be added to the list of Edman, Freeman, Betts, Snell, and Smith who have all elected to defer money past the expiration of their contract.
The Dodgers might have also sealed the conversation for more position players to be added this offseason with the Hernandez signing. Now the outfield consists of Conforto, Edman, Pages, and Chris Taylor, who will all most likely maintain their spot on the roster. Especially with the announcement of Mookie Betts returning to the infield.
The position player pool is now full with 13 players and the Dodgers are looking to add another arm in Roki Sasaki, who may start in the minors if signed.
Teoscar will bring more pop to a team that can already slug with the best in the MLB. He showed his desire to stay in L.A. and it appears L.A. is the place to go to reinvent yourself as a ball player. Teoscar signed a one-year prove it deal last offseason and it paid out tremendously for the righty.
Now he is with the Dodgers until his age 36 season.
