DODGERS STARTING PITCHING CONTINUES TO DOMINATE THROUGH CUBS SERIES
Los Angeles, CA - The Dodgers had a tough series loss against the Chicago Cubs this past weekend, but there are some positives to dig out of some disappointing performances.
Starting pitching continues to prove why this is the strong suit of this L.A. roster. With arms like Gonsolin, Snell, and Kershaw all out, the Dodgers are still holding strong with one of the best rotations in MLB.
In the three game series against the Cubs, Los Angeles threw out Yamamoto, Sasaki, and Glasnow in that order with not one of them giving up more than two earned runs in their appearance.
Yamamoto started the weekend with one of his best performances striking out 9 batters in a total of 6 innings pitched. The second year man now holds one of the best numbers in baseball at a 1.23 ERA with 28 strikeouts in his four starts.
Yoshinobu ended his shutout performance with a win and was followed by his Japanese teammate in Sasaki on Saturday night. Roki Sasaki would follow with his turn on the bump Saturday night. Roki has struggled to keep himself out of trouble in his starts so far and nearly gave up a grand slam in the top of the third.
Regardless of the trouble with baserunners, the right hander pushed through 5 innings and 3 strikeouts to write off his fourth start of 2025.
Glasnow was the final starter of the series in arguably the closest game of the weekend. The final score would lean to the Cubs 4-2, but his outing lasted 6.0 innings deep with 7 K’s and only two earned runs.
Both Sasaki are above a 3.50 ERA on the year so far, and both starters needed these outings to readjust back at home. Only issue for the rotation is how ice cold the offense has gotten since the Washington series. The Dodgers have put up only two runs in three of their last five games.
With LA’s bullpens going through issues as well, the bats are needed more than ever to try and get them through his stretch of games where the Dodgers have not taken any of their last three series.
