MLB ANNOUNCES TWO DODGERS ARE AMONG GOLD GLOVE FINALISTS IN 2024
WILL SMITH AND KIKE HERNANDEZ ARE FAVORITES TO WIN THEIR OWN AWARD THIS FALL
The Gold Glove Finalists were announced earlier this week as the Dodgers continue to prepare for a three game road trip in Queens for the NLCS.
Two Dodgers in Will Smith and Kike Hernandez were announced as finalists for the Gold Glvoe Award in their respective positions.
Smith is a top favorite for the Catcher position with his two opponents are also NL West Rivals in Gabriel Moreno and Patrick Bailey. Smith ended the regular season with a 92% fielding percentage with a total of 8 errors on the year.
Kike now finds himself in the utility section along with Brendan Donovan(Cardinals) and Jared Triolo(Pirates). With 108 appearances in the infield and 26 in the outfield in 2024, Kike has a shot at his first ever award in the majors since his debut in 2014 with the Houston Astros.
Hernandez has a 97% fielding percentage, which puts him above his running mates for the Gold Glove award. In comparison to the others Kike has made appearances in all positions except right-field and catcher this year. He even pitched four games this year allowing 6 hits in 4 ⅓ innings pitched.
Both finalists have good reason to secure their first individual awards in 2024, hopefully Dodger fans get to see a World Series win and some more hardware going to some key players in this year's success.
