LAKERS GO ON 5 GAME LOSING STREAK AFTER AFTER LOSS TO MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES
Los Angeles, CA - The Los Angeles Lakers now hold a five game losing streak after falling to the Timberwolves by 10 points this Friday night.
LeBron has suffered an injury to his left foot as the Lakers are describing it as “left foot soreness.” This would be Lebron’s first injury of the season after making it through two months of regular season play, but according to JJ Redick in a pre game interview he is quite sure of when the star will return.
James has averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists per game this season as he averages around 30 minutes per game. A quite impressive stateline for a player in his age 40 season.
Still the question remains if the Lakers can hold their ground with Lebron gone for an unknown amount of time. The Lakers just lost to the T-Wolves for the second time this month, both by over 10 points. Now the Lakers host Memphis, on December 14th, and head Coach JJ Redick might have his first challenge of the year with his Lakers squad going 1-5 in the final month of the year.
With the elimination from the NBA cup and the 41 point loss to the Miami Heat just last week, L.A. are in desperate times without LeBron and relying on Anthony Davis might not be the best idea given his injury history. To AD’s credit he still puts anywhere from 20 to 30 points a night for the Lakers and shows why he is still a superstar in this league, but a top 5 center in the league won’t go far in the playoffs.
As for the other players on the team, young stars like Dalton Knecht have not been the player we saw earlier in the season when he averaged around 20 points per game. Austin Reaves has made his fair share of contributions, but with Laker struggles there will always be discussion about trade rumors and a rebuilding period for this team.
D-Lo’s name comes to mind for many fans who are looking to get something in return for him. D-Lo currently averages 12 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists per game and that is with a significant amount of playing time on the court. He will continue to have his name on the chopping block as we near the trade deadline on February 6th.
The Lakers held a record of 12-7 before December and now find themselves at 13-12 in 11th place of the Western Conference, trailing the LA Clippers.
The Lakers play Memphis at Crypto.com Arena this Saturday at 6:30 PM.
