LA GALAXY DROP TO 0-2 RECORD FOR THE 2025 SEASON AFTER SUNDAY’S LOSS TO VANCOUVER
Vancouver, WA - Los Angeles took a short flight up the Pacific coast to take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC for their second match of 2025. The match ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Galaxy after a late goal scored by Brian White.
The Galacticos are the reigning 2025 MLS Cup Champions, but since their win against Red Bull FC back in December, LA has fallen apart.
Matchweek one was not the start anybody expected at Dignity Health Sports Park, with the new MLS inductee team in San Diego FC coming in and dominating the champions. San Diego shutout the Galaxy 2-0, holding them down to just 7 shots and only 3 of those being on target.
Anders Dreyer would take the match ball home with him as he scored a late 93rd minute fast break against LA to seal Galaxy’s fate. This game undoubtedly sparked the beginning of a new rivalry matchup to look out for twice a year.
Galaxy got a week to prepare for Sunday’s game against Vancouver, but once again the defensive side of the ball has not been the stronghold we saw at the end of 2025, where they allowed 5 goals in 5 games.
Vancouver, by the look of things, should have been ahead by a higher margin after their 15 shots only landed on the mark four times. However, once against a late goal in the 87th minute would prevent a draw and put Los Angeles to the bottom of the standings at an 0-2 record.
Gabriel Pec did end up securing LA Galaxy’s first goal of 2025 in the 39th minute.
Galaxy has some issues to address on the defensive line especially with a new addition of Mathias Jorgensen. More than likely the problems will resolve themselves with chemistry growing between him and Yoshida.
Galaxy return to the pitch Wednesday, March 5th, against Costa Rican club C.S. Herediano in the Concacaf CHampions Cup.
