LUKA DONCIC GETS MOVED TO THE LAKERS IN THREE WAY TRADE WITH MAVS AND JAZZ
Los Angeles - The whole NBA kingdom held their breath after seeing the big news that Doncic is moving to Los Angeles to join LeBron James and the Lakers.
News broke just around 9 PM PST, and social media did its thing with posts and videos out in minutes.
The trade, as though it appeared as a superstar swap, was a three team transaction involving the Lakers, Mavs, and Jazz for what was set to be a move to prevent a supermax contract being paid by the Mavericks.
Lakers received Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris for a player swap of Davis and Christie, along with a 2029 first round pick.
Utah were also involved, as they acquired 2023 first round pick, Jalen Hood-Schifino from LA along with the LA Clippers’ 2025 second round pick and Mavericks’ 2025 second rounder as well.
Any front office would be ecstatic to add a superstar to their roster, regardless of age. However, to come across one of the best talents in the NBA with years of control remaining for LA is not something that comes by your table often. The offer to receive Doncic is a late Christmas gift for LA as you get a superstar in their early 20’s who will be the face of your franchise for years to come.
Pending if LeBron retires soon.
Luka has only played in 22 games this season and has been out with an injury for sometime, but luckily for LA he is expected to return on February 8th. The Slovenian national has averaged 28 points per game with 8 rebounds and assists in his 7 year career with Dallas.
The loss of Anthony Davis is one that many Lakers fans will be slightly upset about with his contribution to the Finals win back in 2020. Following the Finals, Davis struggled to stay on the court battling with injuries until the 2023-24 year finally getting to 76 total games played.
Davis has had one remarkable year for the Lakers and his stock has continued to soar with his ability to keep LA in games even with LeBron missing. Thus, this trade can be seen as a steal for the Lakers, trading away one superstar who is on the rise once more, but the injury history remains at large.
