DODGERS TRADE AWAY RIGHT HANDED RELIEVER RYAN BRAISER TO CUBS

Los Angeles - Ryan Brasier will play out the final year of his contract with the Chicago Cubs in 2025 after the Dodgers finalized a trade for the reliever.

Brasier joined the Dodgers in June of 2023 following his release by the Boston Red Sox. In his 2023 stint he threw in 38.2 innings while maintaining a 0.70 ERA through those appearances. This performance would eventually lead to his offseason extension with LA that amounted to $9 million through two years.

One year was left on Braiser’s contract with Los Angeles, but with the signing of All-Star Kirby Yates joining in 2025 the bullpen got too crowded. The 37 year old pitcher was designated for assignment early last week and the Dodgers have now found a suitor willing to take on the remaining $4.5 million left on his deal.

The Chicago Cubs have been extremely occupied this offseason as they landed a few pitchers to help fortify their bullpen. Names such as Cody Poteet, Matthew Boyd, Ryan Pressly, Eli Morgan, Caleb Thierbar, Colin Rea and now Brasier have all been added to the list of pitchers for the Cubbies.

A few pitchers might have been an understatement but Brasier will find a nice home in Chicago as a middle reliever who can give you nearly 50 innings a year when healthy.

According to sources LA will get a player to be named or cash in the near future when all the terms are set in stone.
