MIKE TROUT AGREES TO MAKE POSITION CHANGE TO RIGHT FIELD FOR 2025 SEASON
Los Angeles- Spring training is under full swing for the Halos down in Tempe Arizona and some major news came out involving their franchise star in Mike Trout.
A decision that was made in a meeting with Angels coaches, announced Mike Trout’s move from center to right field to take precaution towards his body.
Three time MVP Mike Trout has played less than 82 games in the last 3 out of four season in Anaheim and his inconsistency to stay on the field would bring up the idea of his possible move to DH.
In a short interview with the media Trout seemed to be in agreement with the decision by the Angels coaches.
“I just wanna be on the field.” A statement that Trout said right before his Monday workout.
Injuries have limited Trout’s playing time on the field so it comes to no surprise that he will do anything possible that can possibly limit his ability on the field. The right handed slugger has made the All-Star game in the last 11 of 12 years in his career dating back to 2012.
The 2022 season was his last “fully healthy" season where he played 119 games and finished with a .999 OPS and 8th in MVP voting. Trout has proven that if he can remain on the field he has the ability to claim the crown as possibly the best outfielder in all of baseball, and that is against names like Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.
Trout was told that he would also be able to mix time in with Center field and spend time as the DH giving a lane for young rising players to fit into the lineup in 2025. PLayers like Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak will compete for playing time at center this year, but with Trout having the ability to move around and possibly get more rest than usual both young outfielder will seemingly not have to worry about getting on the field this season.
The Angels desperately need Trout to find his footing once again. The Halos finished 63-99 in 2024, their worst regular season record in Franchise history. A record held by the 1980 California Angels. Without Trout's presence the Angels star power appears fairly dull. Anthony Rendon still remain a question mark for this club and Jorge Soler is the only offseason addition who can breakout this year to help with some offense.
Soler is projected to hold the DH position but if he struggles Angels fans can expect to see Trout be moved to that role to prevent his injuries in the future.
