ARE THE RAMS GETTING LUCKY WITH WHITTINGTON?
The Los Angeles Rams might have found another hidden gem in the 2024 NFL Draft to improve their receiver room.
The Rams were blessed to find Puka Nacua in the 5th round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Nacua proceeded to have the best rookie receiver season in the history of the NFL, finishing with 1, 456 years and 6 touchdowns. The BYU Alumni became a sensation for Rams fans as his jerseys were nowhere to be found after his breakout game against the Colts in week 4, where he scored the winning overtime touchdown.
Now just one year later the NFL are noticing a new preseason breakout star for the Rams in Jordan Whittington. Many draft experts argued that Whittington’s draft capital took a big hit as he was behind Xavier Worthy and Adonai Mitchell at Texas. The former 5 star recruit out of high school caught a total of 1586 years and 5 touchdowns in his 5 year career with the Longhorns. Whittington made it to the CFB semi-finals with Texas last year and it resulted in a 31-37 loss against the Washington Huskies where he caught for 70 yards.
The Rams selected Whittington in the 6th round with the 213th pick. An exciting pick for Rams fans as he was another potential steal in the draft. Now after two preseason games, Whittington has definitely made his argument to make the 53-man roster. In those two games Whittington has accrued 126 yards with 11 catches. The physical receiver has caught eyes of fans all over the league.
Clearly, Sean McVay does not care about speed, but rather how well you can create space for the quarterback. Whittington managed to get yardage through a struggling Bennett. The question that comes up is how well can he do with Stafford this 2024 regular season.
